About Early Years

Early Years Preschool is a not-for-profit corporation designed to meet the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs of pre-school aged children. Activities are offered each day to help each child develop his or her potential in these areas.

Early Years' mission is to combine a nurturing environment and a developmentally appropriate curriculum. We respect the fact that children learn through play.

We are a non-denominational school that accepts children of all religious, cultural, and social backgrounds. Early Years does not discriminate against applicants and students on the basis of race, color, nationality or ethnic origin.

What is the Curriculum?

Early Years is a developmental preschool, encouraging children to learn through play. Classes have a theme for each week (seasons and nature, holidays, animals, food and nutrition, family, community helpers, solar system, etc.) Lessons are designed around stories, songs, art, large motor play, centers, and other activities specific to the theme.

Academic skills, appropriate to each age group, are integrated into the curriculum to encourage matching, counting, sorting, alphabet recognition, shapes, colors, numbers, etc. We also offer in-house presentations throughout the year such as Reptiles Alive, Arlington Fire Department, and Storytime Express.

At Early Years We Strive to:

  • Promote and encourage the individualized development of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers

  • Provide an atmosphere that is rich in educational materials, while adopting a schedule that promotes social, intellectual, emotional, and physical development through play and socialization

  • Encourage strong communication between staff and parents

  • Promote the involvement of families in their children's development at Early Years Preschool by providing opportunities for volunteering based on parent's interests and talents
